Engine Weight

What is the weight of the 5.9 Cummins?

I looked all over the Cummins PowerSpec site & could not find an engine specification page.

About 950lbs.

how does our engine weight compare to the PowerStroke and Duramax. I heard that the 6.0L PowerStroke is heavier than ours. I would assume that Duramax would be lighter due to all of that aluminum they put in them...;)

I'am not going aganist you but are you sure about 950 pounds? I weighed my truck and the fron weighed 4840 pounds and the rear weighed 3200 with me and a toolbox with about 100 pounds or little more of tools. Buddy of mine with a 1997 powerstroke empty weighes 600 pounds less than mine. I thought these motors weighed in at over 1000+ but I may be wrong bet if I have over 4500 pounds on the front end alot of it has to be the motor.

950 lbs does seem kind of light in my opinion. i could be wrong though.

Engine Weight

According to www.cummins.com, the engine weight for the ISB is 1150 lbs. Give or take a little for any application differences, and that should be close.

I have some info that a dealer gave me that states that the net dry weight with standard accessories is 1,022 Lbs for the Cummins B-series 5.9 liter turbo diesel.

Now add in 3 gallons of oil and 11 of coolant!

What I quoted is dry weight with no accessories. Add everything up it gets pretty heavy. The drivetrain is no lightweight either. I believe the NV5600 tranny alone weighs over 400 lbs.

:D Yeah trust me I've been there a time or two. Buddy of mine has an F-150 with 38's and we where driving around a jobsite since I'm an operator and work in construction well needless to say he was in 2wd floating across the mud and me in 4x4 followed him and sank up to my axles in the soft clay. Well sorry to say I had to be pulled out by a ford but then we got on to something solid and hooked up and drug him for about 50ft so I wasn't to ashamed.
