Engine Shutdown Chirp

Has anyone had the chirp noise fixed with the dodge service bulletin. I had to give the dealer the number, they didn't even know about it. Anyway haven't had it done yet, just wondering did it fix it?

I like my "Torque chirp". Every CTD I have had has done it. It lets me know everything is still nice and tight.

Just the nature of the diesel coming to a stop. Hear it on all diesels and is pretty much normal for me.

I had the TSB done that replaces the pulley on the alternator with a over run type and I no longer have any chirp at shutdown.

I have always been explained by the older tymer diesel mechanics and engineers on the ship in this manner: "Imagine what it would be like if an engine producing that much torque, that much compression, just upped and stopped immediately without that 1-2 revolutions during the shut down process...you would probably end up with a few pieces of steel/aluminum laying on the ground"...the "chirp" is normal.

Mine doesn't chirp either. But I can hear a little rattle/engine noise and the torque feels like it will flip my truck on it's side when it shuts down! The beast sounds almost like it just doesn't want to turn off

The chirp is the belt squealing when the motor stops and the belt slips on the alternator pulley. NORMAL...

Most diesel engines make a chirp or rattle when they shut down, totally normal. Thats my experience.

Yep normal. My F350 did it very bad.

Some of us had shredded belt issues, and this TSB will help put LESS stress on the belt at shutdown, which *could* lead to premature failure. When my original belt went (at only 5400 miles) this TSB did not exist. IF it ever happens again (hopefully not, knock wood) I will have this TSB done, chirp or not.

You guys are forgetting the good shake/rattle you get as well! I love the rattle/shake/chirp these trucks makes! It lets you know your driving a real diesel!

I ready a thread over @ the Diesel Place were those D-max guys had there panties all in a wad because there D-maxies chirped .

Dr Diesel has it right. In fact it is stated so in the owners manual.
