Engine randomly dyes while driving

I have an 03 5.9, 3500 H.O 6 speed manual with 150k miles. In the last week it has started randomly dying while driving. Can pull over crank on it for a minute then fires up and runs great again. Idle is the same as always. Changed fuel filter. I dont think it’s the fuel pump because of how sporadic it is, but could be. Not sure where to start or what to think. Gonna check codes today if the turning the key on off three times trick works. Any advice ??

Your either sucking air in or running out of fuel

I had random stalls while cruising with several codes. Sometimes after a few miles and other times after 500+ with no pattern or warning. Changed several sensors with no luck. It turned out to be a XZT chip going bad that I installed 10+ years ago. Removed it and haven't had a hic-up in almost a thousand miles. Except for one time, it always restarted shortly afterwards and always made it home.

My username on this board reflects what I was driving when I joined this board, namely a 2000 7.3L F-250...At the time it had a problem like yours which ultimately led me to trade it in on my first Dodge CTD...I now know the problem to have been attributed to a previously installed neoprene fuel hose installed on the suction side of the truck's fuel pump (not the injection pump)...The hose sometimes collapsed under suction causing the truck to lose power, then stall...A few minutes rest let the hose resume shape letting it pass fuel again......Ben
