Engine Block Heater Cord
Engine Block Heater Cord
I just bought a 2006 Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab Cummins truck and was wanting to locate the engine block heater and route the cord so I wouldn't have to later on once winter gets here and I cannot find the cord. The manual says along the right side behind the grille near the headlamp. Is that the passenger side or driver's side. Can anyone help me?
Assuming they actually installed it (the cord), that is, it should be there. If you didn't get the block heater option, no cord. The heater is, but no cord.
If no cord, I get mine from Mack or Peterbuilt.

My 06 did not come with a cord or the battery warmers. You can get both (actually 3) along with a grill cover in a "cold weather package". The install is easy. Because, like all the others said, the heater is installed, you just need to get the cord. It, the cord, just plugs in and is held in place with a spin-on thingy.
Winter is coming here in Wi and I am planning on using a timer to have my truck start warming about 3 hours before I need to start it.

That's what I did last year, my first winter with the Cummins, and it was certainly nice to have heat almost immediately. I also bought the winter front which is also a good idea. Buy now, if you don't have one, before it gets cold. I found one on Ebay for 1/2 price and it was brand spankin new.

does the winter front just help it heat up faster or what
Plug it in overnight and start up with NO problems

The winter front cover just covers up the radiator, not letting it cool and retaining heat, just to help the truck warm up and get to opperating temp...
Depends on how cold it gets where you are...
