Enabling high idle didn't work!
So I brought my 06 2500 CTD auto for service yesterday to enable the high idle function and the technician is telling me it is not available. I saw him go into PCM>EnableandDisable and then it said error! Why would this be?? They also enabled the daytime running lights by accident which is really annoying considering I didn't ask for that!

Unless recent flashes have changed menus, daytime running was accessed through the Canadian menu from my understanding.
As far as High-Idle, not sure, since you're an auto it shouldn't have been an issue.
How are you attempting to activate High-idle. Cruise on, then hit "set"?

Went back to the dealership again today, this time with instructions. Being a service manager for another car manufacturer, I was naturally curious to see if they were in fact doing it correctly. The shop manager at the Dodge dealership had absolutely no problem with me watching and sure enough it does say error. We did the following:
Starscan main menu>ECU view>PCM>Misc. function>Idle up feat enable>start>next>next>enable>next>finish.
Once in the Misc. functions we hit idle up feature and it says error and something like px00012.
The guys at the dealership never charged me and said they would call star to see what the issue could possibly be.
Anyone else know anything about this???

I'm really curious that if what they didn't enable is the automatic high-idle that is controlled by the truck/ecm itself. The only way I was able to get manually controlled high-idle working was through my smarty jr.

I have this info on file that I got from another thread:
- If your tech can't figure out what/where a high-idle is (mine didn't know) tell him to follow these menu options (I think these are from the DRBIII and not the Star tool which they used on my '06)
- With the ignition in the “RUN” position, using the DRBIIIT select:
-> DRBIII Standalone
-> xxxx - xxxx Diagnostics
-> All (Except Below)
-> Engine
-> Misc. Function
-> Idle Up Feature Enable (the option is in the same place as the daylight running lights)
- Ensure that the after the flash option has been loaded to the ECM (TSB 18-004-04) that it also activated - this is a additional step !! Again - note that on my newer '06 they just had to enable it - not flash it as a TSB !!

I still think you are supposed to have pin 22 grounded on one of the engine ECUs even with auto. My manual came without the pin grounded. As soon as that happened I had fast idle all the way up to 1500. I use it all the time here in the cold.

Negative, Auto just has to be activated. First hand experience.

I would have them do a reflash of the ECM sometimes there is error in the flash process that causes problem like what you are having. Make sure there is battery charger on your vehicle or flash may fail again.
