Electrical problems, PCM replacement?
 
The other day my fog lights go out. I investigate mildly and decide that the fog lights can wait until the warmer weather rolls around.

A few weeks later I'm jumping in the truck in the morning and I notice the "Lamp Out" message and one of my headlights don't work. As I pull up to the first stop sign and make a right, I hear the turn signal flasher clicking much faster than I'm used to. No big deal I think to myself, I've fixed a few flashers in my time.

When I get home later I spend quite a bit of time checking fuses, relays etc,.

I can't find the turn signal flasher, so I decide to consult my service manual and to my surprise it claims that the turn signals are controlled by the PCM.

After I replace the head light with a known good bulb and that doesn't fix the problem, I do a walk around to see what lights are actually working and the verdict is:

Passenger side headlight works
all park lamps work
brake lights work
no turn signals at all
when I depress the hazzard light only the passenger rear tail light blinks
no fog lights

My local Dodge fix it guy (who's kids I'm putting through school it seems) said the PCM needs to be replaced.

I removed it and reseated everything and it didn't help one bit.

I've had some many little issues that arise from having things over engineered it's making me sick (and poor) and I'm strongly considering taking my losses and selling this truck.

What's my next move here?

I'm really starting to think all the people that warned me about Dodge were right. Great engine wrapped around a garbage truck.

HAd the same thing on Friday morning. Started by replacing the multi-function switch(turn signal/dimmer/wipers). Didin't fix it. Replaced the FCM(front control module) located on the end of the power control module. Didn't fix it. Cleaned all connections to the PCM, all grounds and still had the same problem. Couldn't get a PCM cause they are backordred so I took apart the PCM(very carefully I might add) and found three spots where copper cooked off the circuit board. SOldered wire in place of the missing copper. Sprayed board with electrical contact cleaner to remove solder paste and clear coated the repaired areas. Returned to service and all is well now. 12 hours and 470 dollars later I found the problem! Be careful while soldering, there are very small gaps between circuits.
