do they put ethanol in diesel fuel
There should be no ethanol in diesel fuel. However, if you are driving through that area in winter you would probably be getting winterized fuel which has a lower energy content and therefore gives lower mpgs then #2 diesel. Could also be things like headwinds, driving style or speed (if it is different then you usually drive). I have often found that when I do a round trip through an area the wind is blowing against me in both directions. :-(
Stopped in Illionis for fuel at a TA and at a Marathon. All of the diesel pumps had a little sticker that said E-11. I think they put 11 percent ethanol in the fuel there and in many other places. Did not affect my mpg. In fact, the mpg went up. But I think it was the heavy tailwinds.
Here and in many places the gas pumps have a up to 10percent ethanol sticker. I thought that did not apply to the diesel hose at those pumps. Now I think maybe it does. maybe a lot of diesel has ethanol added???
