Do Synthetics exiat for the 6 speed and trnsfer case?
At 15,000, I figured it was time to switch the drivetrain over to synthetics. Did the front and rear diff.
I want to use DC recommended fluids while truck is in warranty. The transfer case takes ATF+4. I can't find a store that sells it. Has anyone bought a synthetic ATF+4. How about a synthetic for the NV5600? I don't believe the Mopar product or the Pennzoil Sychromesh product are synthetic. After warranty, I'll use the Redling MTL TIA |
Lotsa folks running Mobil1, Redline, Amsoil, RP, etc with great success; during the warranty period.
I'm running Amsoil throughout, but will try Redline MTL in the tranny next time. Keep records, you'll be covered. |
Just bought a 5 gal can of 75W90 Valvoline Synthetic at the local NAPA, it is a GL-5 oil as is required. Figure if Cummins endorses thier motor oil the gear oil should be good enough. Caught the gear oil on sale and it was only $109 works out to $5.45 a quart. Lots cheaper than buying it by the quart.
The 6 speed tranny calls for Mopar manual transmission fluid P/N 4874464 but no other info is available. Anybody know the after market equivilant? For the tranny the Owners Manual says it only needs topped off and not changed but I have a hard time with that. |

Don't use 75w-90w in the NV-5600 it needs Redline MTL90 or the Factory stuff 75w-90w is made for the NV-4500 and can be used for the front and rear Diffs but not the NV-5600.
BTW Amsoil makes a product also I will let somebody chime in on that product, The Redline can be found in most cities at about 10 bucks a quart |
