Do I Need Towing Turbo?

Howdy,I tow a 40' toy hauler that weights 15,000lbs. all the time,I hit 38-40 psi regulary and my egt's never go over 900degrees(post turbo)since I put a zilla boost fooler on last year which dropped my egt's by 200-300 degrees..I wouldn't mind a little more power for headwinds. Is my stock turbo fine with this or what should I change it to?I really don't want any tuners that may void my warranty.I only have 20,000 mi.on the truck and use it to tow only. Thanks for any info.

If you've towed with this truck set up this way for 20,000 miles without issues, I would just knock on wood and keep goin' to Glamis baby!

I hope knock on wood does'nt mean a bad thing and we are going back to Glamis in two weeks.
Sorry moderator I moved this to high performance,I think I put it in the wrong place.

Without extra fuel a new turbo won't do much good as far as power. So no you don't need one.

You do not want to use a tuner because of warranty issues, but yet you are willing to change to a bigger turbo. What do you think that will do to the warranty?

If you keep the EGT below 1300 degrees you're okay while towing or empty. Above that you start to take life out of turbo and around 1600 you cook it. Hello savings account for a new turbo. Keep what you have until it breaks and the warranty expires.

well apparently the Smarty is untraceable, and running the programmer will dramatically increase your towing ability while keeping temps much better than stock. I tow around 20k no problems on level 5

Remember, hes measuring EGT post turbo. Running at 900 degrees is as high as I would want to go post turbo continuously. Post turbo EGT will usually be about 300 to 400 cooler than pre turbo.

He says the boost fooler dropped his EGT's by 200~300 so that would put his pre turbo EGT at around 1400~1500 before the boost fooler. This is what most totally stock 3rd gens will run at full throttle loaded.
