DEXRON 3w/Lubeguard vs. ATF+4

Has anyone with a Dave Georend transmission notice any difference in shifting between the two fluids. Or is it basically the same, thanks.

I suggest asking dave. He told me not to use the ATF4 in mine and to stay with the dextron with lubeguard.

Hey thanks 67HotRod, now I talked to Dave and he said it didn't matter. If you use ATF+4 don't use the lubeguard though. So who knows, Thanks for the info.

Dex III does not have additives, heat protection, lube capability, detergent action, friction modifiers, that ATF+4 has. Why do you need to add snake oil if it was as good. JMHO of course. Not to mention the mercon additive if it is included.

Because ATF+4 is twice as expensive as Dex III. Because that is what Goerend puts in their built trannies. Because Lubegard isn't snake oil.

All Dave is trying to tell you is that you won't notice a difference in performance, durability, temps etc. and it is less expensive. The Lubegard is good stuff.

With either one, you should drop your pan every 15K and change your filter. I normally change my Dex III and Lubegard at 15K too. I talked with Dave since someone gave me a case of ATF+4.. he said at 15K, drain +4 in clean container, change filter, put +4 back in for 15K more. The real issue is the filter... Dave said those filters really filter well and will kill a tranny quicker than anything else.
