Cummins Exhaust Brake
I was on another site and someone posted the part number from Cummins on the exhaust brake. It appears that it is the same that the dealer has just much cheaper. I called my cummins dealer with the part number and it was 160 bucks, I asked what was included and they said a vacuum pump and a pulley. It seems to me that there should be more to the system than that, although I realy have no idea.
Anyone have any experience here, it seems that is realy cheap for the whole system. Anyone bought one from cummins, will I need more parts, help?

Do yourself a favor, look up Pac Brake PRXB. In many ways it is seen as superior to the Jacobs brake available at your local dealer.
To buy the Jake, you are looking closer to about $895.00 for the kit (which includes a lot more than you were quoted) As in, relays, the actual exhaust elbow, switch, etc.
The Pac Brake is closer to $1,000, but,........ oh so cool.

If you are seriously looking at an exhaust brake, here it is:

Only, you can get it a little cheaper by calling Lary here at the DTR store. I got mine here and the price was literally unbeatable.

it might be just the vacuum pump for the brake that they are talking about. From what I have read, the vacuum pumps seem to fail, somewhere just beyond the warranty, but sooner than they really should..
The replacement pump from Dodge is very expensive, but you can get the pump from Cummins cheaper...
Here are the Dodge and Cummins PNs for the pump..
.Cummins 3965925
Dodge 5102084AA
The whole kit is like $1100 +/- depending upon where you get it and has all of the controls, vacuum pump, belt and brake itself..

The PacBrake is as good or maybe even better design (uses compressed air vs vacuum) but not being a Chrysler approved accessory it could in theory void the warranty. I haven't towed heavy much lately, but when I begin to again I'll prolly get one. The local Dodge dealer charges about $1700 installed. Considering that some dealers will try anything to weasel out of warranty coverage I've decided to stick with the Jacobs if & when I do get one.
