cruise control questions

ok i have my 03 2500 with the 48re and the cruise just quit working. the light on the dash turns on when the button is pressed but when you go to set it nothing happens. before it quit working it would take a few seconds of holding the set button to get it to kick in. checked the vacuum line from the pump to the servo and found two breaks. i replaced the line with rubber instead of that hard plastic stuff that was in there. the only difference was that the rubber has a smaller inside diameter. still same condition, tried holding the brake pedal up to see if it was the brake light switch and tried it, still nothing. replaced the vacuum pump and still nothing. am i missing something here? should i go to the *******-ship and get the hard plastic line and try again? could the servo be shot, or something completely different. as always any help and/or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

ok i pulled the airbag and got to the wires for the clock spring...problem is i have no clue what to look for such as voltage/ohm ranges and such. from what i can tell there is continuity in all the wires going to the cruise buttons. however the center of the clock spring has got a little play in the middle where is rotates with the steering wheel. not sure what symptoms/signs there are other than stuff not working and could it just be that the switches are worn out and not making a good connection? the horn works but cruise does not, and it doesn't have wheel mounted radio controls. as of right now i'm stumped. any ideas/guidance?

Got the cruise working again. It was a combination of multiple breaks in the vacuum line and shot vacuum pump. Just love that the line is near impossible to examine without removal. Mine had splits that i couldn't feel and didn't see until I pull it out of the truck. Old pump was shot due to constant running with the leaks, but all is well now. BTW NAPA sells the pumps for about $110 and I guess the Dodge parts desk are a bunch of idiots around here because they couldn't find it in their listings.
