I did the same and received the exact same codes. Not sure what they mean so I too would be interested in hearing from someone who knows what these codes represent.

I get similar codes and have aksed the dealer about them and they don't know.
Here are the codes I get:

5 (or "S") 116
, (comma) 281
C 447

And I get them in that order.

Any of you try taking it to like Autozone and having them run their scan tool on it? See if it says what the codes are?

I've had it at the dealer and they have hooked it up to the scanner and it shows that the system is clear. The service writer went so far as to say that they were check codes when the system does its self analysis. But I don't buy that line, especially when he couldn't answer what each code meant.

Tony, what are the codes when you do the gauge/lamp check on your Ram?

Tony, did you try the gauge/lamp test feature to get these codes? (hold the odo reset button down while turning the ignition to "on/run", do not start, and the gauges will run a self test along with the all the lamps illuminating - you should get three codes scrolling through the display). This is not the ignition on/off/on/off/on code check.
I went to another dealer this morning and checked one of their trucks and it threw the same codes as mine. This truck only had 4 miles on it.
It doesn't appear that anyone knows what these codes mean......

I assume from the posts that these are all 06s that show this display when holding down trip button and turning key to on. This initiated the Instrument Cluster diagnostic on 04 and 05 for sure. The 06s certainly have different ECM code and BUS for diagnostics. Maybe the same test doesnt produce the same results as before. It could very well be some type of checksum codes after diagnostics that means no problems. I don't think DC meant for the owner to run the diagnostics or be able to determine the DTCs, at least not documented in such a way. The 06 DR Service Manual may have some indication of the meaning, but obviously some dealer techs can't find it.

I think that all of the reports here are for '06 models. The checksum sounds like it might be a plausible explanation. Although, from what's reported here, there are only two different codes and they don't seem to change within each specific truck. Mine have always been the same.
Maybe we should send a letter to Dr. Z!?
