Clearing CEL codes

Is there a way to clear codes in this truck without a scanner? I know you can do the on off 3 time trick to check them. If you need to pull a fuse or something, which fuse would I pull?

Thanks,

From: East Montpelier, VT.
Some clear by themselves upon a few successful starts. Successful to the computer is: Start, run until motor temps are normal, shut down. not sure on the number but I have seen some codes go away after 20 of those successful starts.

As for clearing the actual Check Engine Light, I think that needs to be cleared via a scanner. Most auto stores have them and will allow you to use them for free to reset the CEL.

If you buy a Bully dog downloader it has the option to view and clear codes, or you could try unhooking the batterys for 2 minutes.

Unhooking the batteries doesn't actually clear the codes.

If the codes are active, nothing will clear them.

If they are inactive, you can erase them from the ECM with any of the above mentioned aftermarket pieces.

Some codes will leave the check engine light on even when they go inactive (for a certain amount of time or "key cycles") until they are erased.

The only way you can clear an active code is to fix whatever is throwing the code.

Well, I updated my autotap to can compliant last night so at least I will be able to see whats happening and clear if I am so inclined. I have had this truck for 5 days and it has allready thrown the battery temp CEL twice. It is going back again this afternoon. I know that the bat temp sensor code means nothing, but I am bummed to see that stupid light in my 5 day old truck, for the 2nd time. Maybe it really does have a bad sensor?
