Checking for Trouble Codes?

I need to check for any stored codes (trans probs, etc). I have no check engine lights. Is this something that can be done with any OBDII code reader or do I need to have the dealer use the special Dodge one? Thanks for any help.

Most scanners can do that, the historic codes will show up as inactive. Most of the cheep scanners will not do trans codes though. You can do a search for the method to pull the codes out of the odometer, I think that should give you all codes stored in the ECM.

This will give you basic stuff, if you want the real data you need to get it scanned by a dealer or someone with a real scanner...
