changing diff oil

every 50,000 miles with amsoil severe gear oil- oil still clean after 50,000 miles!!

changed mine at 15k with Amsoil 140 in rear and 110 in front...but I think I'll wait till 45k to change it again

There definately seems to be a breakin with these diffs. The first oil change the oil was nasty looking with lots of metal. Since then it's been very clean and the gear tooth faces look very happy. Now running Mobil 1 75-140. No more chattering.

hey guys im new to this forum..i think i should change mine as well but i dont know how many quarts to buy or what kind of gear oil to get..i have a 2004 2500 diesel..i have about 60,000 miles...any info would be much appreciated

The rear diff hold 4 quarts. Get the Dodge oil at the dealer, or better yet, get another brand of 75-140 full synthetic. I used Mobil 1 and it is better than the Dodge 75-90.

Like some of the above, my dad or me or anyone i know has never changed any gear oil and never had a problem we have had several trucks with 200+ miles, but they were Ford and Chevys, were just getting into the goats since chevy is so friggin flimsy and ford flat out sucks since dumping the 7.3
but you guys may have scared me into changing mine, its at 70,000
