Blackstone Lab Oil Report Question

Here is my report from Blackstone, I was concerned about using the True Flow Air Filter but I see it will be just fine.:D Now, what about the high Potassium level? This is the first time I have done this so I don't know much about it. I would appreciate any input from anybody who knows a little about it. Thanks:cool:

On a side note: DC replaced my #1 injector a couple of weeks ago because of injector knock, but it did not fix the problem. This time I was there for the test and it is #5 (I think they replaced the wrong one) so another one is on the way. Hopefully we will get this thing right. As I recall, I don't believe I ever once took my old '96 CTD back to the dealer for an engine related problem.

Jerry,

We've seen numerous 3rd gen trucks come back with high levels of potassium during their first couple oil analyses. As the comments from Blackstone suggest, I'd give it a couple more analyses before I'd begin to be concerned, especially if the level of fluid in the rad hasn't decreased at all.

As a side note, treat these inexpensive oil analysis reports with a bit of a grain of salt, and do plenty of tests, as we've seen some analyses come back with wild variations, even with the exact same oil being sent in. In other words, if you get one test where levels appear to be somewhat off-kilter with your average results from previous tests, don't get too concerned.

I am relative new to dielsel engines since I just purchased my truck in April. What is the procedure for having the oil analyzed? How many places do oil analysis, how do you get the samples to them, how much do they need, and what is the cost? My truck is stock so is it necessary for a stock truck?

Is there an old thread that gives this information?
