Must be an auto tranny

cr25ovet 03-31-2004 08:37 PM

nope its a 6 speed!
that was the reason i got the 6 speed because i was under the impression they last forever. but i guess stuff happens. nothing is 100% bullet proofed

What was wrong with it? What were the symptoms? Did they rebuild it or drop in a new one?

they don't know yet if they want to rebuild it or drop in a new one.

That sounds like my truck, but it happened at about 300 miles, but it was 3rd gear. Id always take off unloaded in 3rd, a dozen or so times later i could hear what sounded like a pinball machine. Needless to say i wasnt happy, but i love this truck! DC replaced the tranny in about 4 days. Other than the silly adjustable pedals breaking off at 70mph, i have to say its been a good rig.

If I let mine idle along in 1st.-3rd. it makes a low pitch grinding sound. Is this normal? Service said yes, it was throw-out bearing working. My 02 was so loud ,if it made this sound , you could not hear it. I drove another truck, sound was there but not nearly as loud. Does this sound similar to your problem?

Look for Spacer of Death in the 3rd Gen Accessories. Hang on to your seat though.
