Bad ball joint

Had front end aligned today for death wobble reasons, got it set, tech then discovered front upper driver side was bad, he could move the wheel a good bit, Truck runs straight and true now but hit a good bump on hwy at say around 65 and still wobbles

Wonder how hard it will be to replace a ball joint myself? My basic warranty has expired

I took someone elses advice and am using a needle tip on a grease gun. Poke the boots and fill. I don't think it can hurt.

Hoot,

Do you poke it at the top of the boot where it sort of clamps on or right into the side? Also wondering if the grease does get into the joint from the boot?

From what I've heard, you can use the lukes links to rebuild all the ball joints. I installed the lukes links on my trac bar last weekend and it wasn't all that big a deal.

Just poked it where it bulges out. I would have to see an internal view of the BJ to know for sure if it gets on the ball. Right now I'll poke into the unknown

balljoints?

Are you all talking about the tie rod ends or the weight carrying balljoints that the knuckle pivots on?

Death Wobble

Just check and make sure your stablizer is good also. Mine was bad from the factory and it caused the death wobble from day 1. Hasn't done since it was replaced.

I may look into a dual stabilizer if I ever have wobble issues. I'm running 35" tires now with a 2" leveling kit and it's tight as drum and feels stock.

Stabilizers just mask the problem...it should run right without the stabilizer! More than likely it is caster or bad ball joints which causes wobble.

Nope, had front aligned, tires rotated, balanced, new Rancho rs 5000 stabilizer and still wobbles, now heres the interesting part, while on the way to work had to do an emergency lane change, turned the wheel left and the truck faught me for control (really ****** me off). Next day put the truck in the air and discovered about an inch of play between up and down ball joint play.Oh and fwiw I'm told there is not yet a dual stabilizer kit yet available for an 03
