Anyone know how to tighten up steering box?

I knew there was a thread on how to adjust the steering box nut/bolt a while back. Can't seem to find it now.

Anyhow which way makes the steering tighter?

Righty tighty.

I had to actually remove the whole box to even get access to the stupid adjusting bolt. You barely turn it at all... go 1/8th or 1/4 of a turn, no more. You may have to adjust it several times. If you go too far, the box will puke it's guts out. Don't worry, your local dealer can get one in about a week on special order for just under $600, but then you get $125 off if you take your old box back. I know, I know... you are thinking "What a deal!," right? Yeah, me too.

I adjusted mine just fine without dropping box. Lay under truck and reach up over the top of box. You will need a allen wrench and a box end wrench. I forgot sizes used, just check yours. You will loosen locknut and hold in place while you turn the allen wrench to adjust. I only had a little play in my wheel and I turned mine a bunch. Maybe 3 full turns. I kept checking the play in steering wheel and climbing under truck to turn more. Just go a little at a time, and when you feel its right lock the nut back down and go for a test drive. A box that is too badly worn will be hard to steer once the play is all gone, and then you'll have to replace box. There are aftermarket manuf. making boxes now, I believe AGR makes one. Do a search. I am not sure of who makes these steering boxes for Dodge now but they must have a fine thread on the adjuster screw, cause the older Saganaw style boxes only took a half turn or so, maybe 3/4 to 1 turn. These took a lot more.
