anti spin Rear diff.
I am going to buy a truck and found a the only Larimy my dealer has witch does not have a anti spin rear differential. This dealer is giving me the best trade in I can find for any of his trucks. He also has Sport with rear diff. lock and stl with lock.
Should I avoid the Larimy because no lock?
Are there any cons to the anti slip?
How soes it work?
Thank you.

Honestly, if everything else about the deal is good, I'd probably go on and get it. Embarrassing as it might be to have to, you can always use 4wd to keep from getting stuck on wet grass.
I'm not joking about that-my 6 spd 2wd with the limited slip very nearly did get stuck on a mild slope with wet grass. This was with both rear tires spinning.

I did not order it in my truck....because I heard of all the problems & lackluster performance.
Personally, I'm waiting for ARB to release the air locker for the 11.5" diff!

i've had no actual mechanical problems with the LSD, just in some situations it does not function as well (or at all) as other types of limited slips. i'm not an expert on differentials, but do a search on here and you'll see the details of the design. just wish i would have waited for an actual locker..
I don't have a limited slip and have to come to prefer not having it due to the ice that we get around here. Limited slips do well in mixed traction situations, but on uniformly slick surfaces where both wheels are on the edge of breaking loose, when one does the limited slip 'helps' the other one to break loose too, and the rear end kicks around. Not fun on a curving highway on ramp, or on a crowned road with steep shoulders. I too am waiting to see what becomes available in a selectable locker, and may just try to get the one in the fancy half ton as both front ends are the same size as I recall.
At some point traction really depends upon tires, and mother nature doesn't give you extra credit for having adequate tires most of the time.
