Alternator and snow trouble

I had an interesting experience today, and I thought I would share.

Woke up this morning to 8"-10" of fresh powder snow. I live 4 miles off the paved road so I had some snow to drive through this morning (Some of the drifts were 12"+). Started the truck up and warmed it up before I left for work. I got 3 miles down the road and my alternator quite working. I looked under the hood to make sure the belt was still on and everything was ok. Well it was packed full of snow under the hood. so I turned around and went home. Parked it in the garage and put a charger on it. Started the truck up and it started working.

I went off to work and it happened again, but I made the drive in and brought it to the dealer, after I checked in at work. I was going to have them check it out. Well they had 2-3 others in before me with the same issue. Warmed up and dried out the alt. and it started working. So far everything is ok, I will know more when I drive home. Just thought I would see if anyone else has seen this.
