The answer is yes. But it is not cheap. Suncoast is asking 10k+.

It's a lot of money but there's a lot more to it than just dropping it in. Mounts, bel housing, shift controller, drivelines, matching transfer case shafts, etc. Also, with a little bombing, you will exceed it's rating. So it will have to be built to handle the HP you intend on showing it. The New Diesel Power has an article on the Allison. Check it out.

I'm hoping the Aisin will turn into a kit some day before my 48RE dies.

Seems a little high? Compared to who? Just build that 48Re.

You can build the 48RE all you want but it will still only have four speeds and be poor for heavy towing.

You can take a beating buying a new truck for that price and come out better. A new truck will not be a basket case when it comes to getting parts and selling. It will also not void your warranty if you buy new if you just have to have 2 more gears.

Exactly. Everyone says build the 48re. Its still just a 4sp. I know the 48 and allison can be built to hold the same power but those 2 extra gears is where the real appeal is.

You're right.

I wanted the Aisin too... Suncoast isn't going to do it because they have so much time and R&D into the Allison. I didn't hear about anyone else either. So I went ahead and built the 48re.

Is Suncoast actually installing the Allisons in Dodges now? Or is it still just in the development stage?

Also, I'm wondering if they "build" the Allison first, and if it clears the floor of the Dodge. I hope they don't have to get out the sledge hammer to clearance the floor.

Can't wait ot see one in operation.
