Aftermarket break pads vs Mopar break pads
Just wondering who is running aftermarket break pads and what brand and who is running Mopar break pads. Which do you like better/lasts longer. I've put like 70k miles on my Mopar pads and have heard of others getting more miles than that. What's your thoughts?

The factory pads are good, but pricey .I put the top of the line raybestos on from rock auto for like 56.00 and seem to be just as good so far in the 15000 miles I have in them .
Get the factory pads, the cheaper ones from Dodge squeal like steel against steel !!!
Any idea the price on the factory pads. Do they sell them in pairs or individual.
I am wondering this too. It is almost brake time here. I am thinking of going with the factory pads. I hate squeaky brakes.
My original front pads lasted 65k. I then made the mistake of buying the Dodge "value line". They maybe cheap, about $45 I think, but I have never experienced so much brake dust in my life. Others may not have had a problem with them but I'd never buy them again!!!!![verymad]

http://www.moparpartsamerica.com It's a Dodge dealer in Beaverton, OR. I'v purchased from these people before. They are fast and accurate. The prices are pretty darn good. Much better than I can buy locally. |
My truck needs front pads (70k miles). I want to replace them with OE pads.
I checked the website above and others. I have an ' 05 and for some reason on all those sites, the '05 pads are listed at $160+ while the '03-04 and '06-08 pads are listed at $90ish. Does anyone know if the '05 pads/calipers are different ? It sounds strange to me as aftermarket pads are listed as '03-08, even the value line ones at genosgarage.... |
did the Hawk pads from Genos... quite happy with them..
Have you tried green brakes? http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/index.shtml
They will drastically reduce brake dust and are high performance. I used to use them on my Dodge Vipers |
NAPA Ceramic pads here, much better braking and less fade when pulling trailers w/o brakes.
I ordered EBC Green Stuff a few days ago, will put them on this weekend when I get them and let y'all know. I heard alot of good on them, and I'm not afraid to spend good money on good parts.

When you guys do your brakes are you getting your rotors turned also???
I did the job and WOW, these things really bite down!! The first hit on the brakes I didn't expect them to bite that hard and almost sent me into the windshield! I got a little squeal now like the others said, and I'm hoping it's just them breaking in like they said also. So far, OH YEAH!! I didn't turn the rotors, there wasn't any visual problems or any shimmy in the wheel and pedal to make me think they needed to be turned.
You need to turn the rotors if they are warped or grooved bad. Stick with the good Dodge pads they are not going to eat your rotors up.Dodge uses a pad that works good with the rotor that they use.== Good luck
