To adj 48re bands or not

I have 103,000 on my 03 now and am going to do a filter, drain and re fill. The bands have never been touched and the trans shifts just fine. No hunting or any other shift issues. I have an inch pound tq wrench and the adj seems to be an easy thing to do but don't want to just cause problems where there are none. So,,, yes or no on the adjust?

i say adjust, follow the directions and you will be golden, if it is out of adjustment it can only go down hill as the band cant hold the drum should it be too loose.

while you have the pan off instal a drain plug B&M makes a drain plug thats easy to instal and costs 8-10$. so much nicer when the next time you need to drop the pan

What does your owner's manual say? I'd follow that.

For sure do it while you have the pan off. Even though it runsfect, there will be some wear to adjust for. Put in the pan plug while you are in there.

I did mine today. Like you I`ve been scared to adjust it. My trans was slipping in second & I had already checked prices on a rebuilt one. I just adjusted the band on the outside. It`s worth it, do it. You`ll need an 19 mm & the torx socket to turn the screw. I took a 19 mm socket to break the nut loose & then used a wrench to hold it. It might not last but right now it feels like new. Well not quite, I need to put a solenoid to stop that first to second low speed surge. Good luck.

OK I'll do it. BTW I have a Mag-hytec double deep pan that has a drain in it. This flewid change and band adj will last me a few years. If there is a reason not to adj please make the case now as it happens tomorrow.

Go for it! I adjusted my bands last year and am very pleased with the outcome.
