Sold my 99 5 years ago to a good friend. He called me last night, i t caught on fire he used two fire ext, no luck. Called fire department, they put it out and it restarted twice. After they disconnected the batteries,the fire went out.He said it looks like the starter never released,you would think he would have heard a grinding noise? The truck is at the dealership, should hear from him this evening. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? He had the alternator replaced a few days prior to this. No mods 105k mileage.

 

The dealership said the ingnition switch shorted out, while he driving his truck,the starter never disengaged,replaced starter,ingnition switch, and the damaged wiring. Will see what happens.

 

Dang doesn't seem like much damage from the fire which is a good thing.
