600 or not

At the local dealer I noticed a new truck that had just arrived last night. I stoped and looked at it and on the sticker it doesnt say anything about 600. Does this mean it isnt one? Is there any serial # breaks or how to tell .

Two easiest ways I know of are:
1. Fan shroud is attached to the engine instead of the radiator (you may be able to look at this from underneath if you can't get the hood open)
2. There is an engine identification tag on the top/front driver's side of the engine that shows the horsepower rating.

Only way I know of checking is to look on the drivers side at the engine label, and it wil say 325HP on the ID tag.

Also, the WasteGate is Electronic, and the fan shroud (sp?) is sealed to the motor, so that should appear different. So,, without popping the hood, I don't think there is a way.... Unless you test drive it

EDIT: LOL, I guess I type to slow....

and with a test drive it might be difficult to detect an 8% increase in torque. If one is real familiar with the 03-04 and you jump into an 04.5, sure. 8% isn't any eye-popping SOP difference you know. I once went through some calculations and discovered that the power difference allows the 04.5 to maintain the same speed on a hill with something like 5 WHOLE extra feet of rise per mile! woa baby, bring it on.

best way is to read the label on the engine

It is. Says 325 on the side of the valve cover. It looks like 4" ALL the way back is this true? but it also looks like the turbo has a 5" outlet because it necks down to go to 4" (if it is 4") anyone know?

What is the added cost?

Did you see if there is any lockup in AT for the Ebrake?

My local dealer said that all the first batch were going to California and he would not see any until late Feb early March. Can't wait to get back in a Dodge sled.

My local dealer got about 10 new 2500 and 3500 CTD in this weekend with the 600 engine . Looking at the window sticker at the bottom of the option list it will say "Cummings 600"

OK I just looked at 2 of the 325's today.
Here is the fool proof way to tell the difference without opening the hood.
Look thru the grill on the Driver;s side, if you see 2 plastic bottles, the Windshield wiper and the overflow with pink fluid in it then it is NOT a 325. On the 325's they had to move the overflow bottle to the firewall on the passengers side duw to the new fan shroud that is attached to the radiator, they also covered and ducted the passenger side of the radiator to get more cool air into the airbox

The window sticker will say "Cummins 600 turbo diesel".

Go to one of the dealers sites and check a window sticker and you will see it with your own eyes.
