48Re Shift points?
I am just curious about what speed everyones 48re shifts into overdrive. I took a back road trip today and left it in OD and it seems to shift into overdrive really soon and really lug on the hills. I wasn't pulling anything but it just seems to go right into overdrive lockup really soon like at about 45 mph and seems to really take a long time to downshift especially on hills. If I shut the OD off it climbs up and down those hills but seems to top out at about 55mph before it sounds like it needs to go into another gear. So I was having to push the OD button on and off jus to make the drive seem comfortable any info will be appreciated.

The OD shift and lock-up shift's are controled by the computer with inputs from the ground speed and throttle position.

You are correct. If you use a small amount of throttle, the OD lockup will occur at ~45 MPH. If you would like the lockup to occur later, use more throttle.

With 3.73 gears I believe OD locks at 48 mph and 3rd locks around 30 mph.

04 3500 DRW locks up at 45mph on the money

Unless I am running at highway speeds, I just leave mine off, and I'll let it run a little high for a bit, or back off on the throttle. The thing that I hate is that it really wants to just be in OD, even when braking - so I just leave it off when I don't have to do 45+ for a long stretch.

Thanks guys at least I know I am not alone with the 45mph OD.
It just seemed kind of odd to me that the TC locked up that quickly. But I guess its normal eh?:p |
