4 wheel engaging on its own...

I did a bunch of searching but came up empty.... My 06 has the electronic 4wd knob and is deciding to go into 4 whenever it wants to. Doesn't matter on speed (40-65mph). I can tell because my front driveline needs a higher angle cv b/c of the lift but just haven't got around to it yet. When its in 4 I get a good vibration.... But when it engages, I don't get a light on the dash. But if I turn the knob it comes on. If I stop turn on 4 hi, then turn it off, it disengages until it feels like kicking back in again. Does anyone know of a way of testing the switch? But being an intermittent problem I could be running in circles unless its my day to win the lottery! I had a bad feeling from the start with that electronic 4wd switch[duhhh]
I would take it to the dealer but I already know how that would go.....[roll]
Thanks for any input.

I would think you can use an ohm meter or volt meter to ck the switch you could pull the switch and see if you have power flowing through it when you turn the knob back and forth or use an ohm meter and ck the switch unplugged from power

Good idea. I will give it a try hopefully tomorrow. Thank you for the reply!!!

I read a thread yesterday about a guy in Louisiana. Same thing happened to him but it went into 4 low at 75mph! The poor guy died...:(
Guess what my truck did this afternoon? Was on the way to the gym doin about 60 and the 4 low light starts flashing:o So I hit the swich to 4 hi to try and fool it and hit the binders.... Got pulled over and back in 2 hi to limp it home. Well I'll be damned if it didn't do it again! And all I could think about was the poor guy in La.... Worst part was that I was on a bridge when it first happened.... **** new trucks I sure miss the ol 12 valve right now.....

I would suggest you find a fuse to pull or disconnect the X-fer case solenoid somehow until you fix it.
