I have had 3 break and to me the common issue was the loss of the tubing brace which allowed the tubing to vibrate and crack. Last time I replaced it, i loctited the machine bolt and nut. Mine is old blue style and got it from Cummins. If you have an old style, I recommend loctite the suckers and you should not lose the bracing components which starts the whole process. Injector tubes 1-3 &5-6 have 326,000 miles on them. #4 is the only that gave me grief.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll start checking mine when I do the oil changes for sure.

Not covered??? That should've been covered under the 100k engine warranty for sure, unless you are heavily modded and the dealer is a total jerk.

Totally stock. I'll go with jerk. However on another visit they did replace the seat heater under extended warranty after I had added some foam and screwed up the wires.

Hi all. When this thing fails does it make a huge mess or does it start out small and get bigger? I noticed a small what looked like fuel stain on the driveway under my truck the other day between the firewall and the engine.

I ordered the new style #4 fuel line and have been carrying it as a spare. Now with the onset of winter and boredom, I believe I will install it and keep the old one as a spare. It would be much easier to do it in my garage than in a rest area on an Interstate somewhere!

Are there any instructions I should follow? My understanding is when the engine is off then all the pressure is bled off too. Is this correct??

The fuel rail pressure is anywhere from 23-26k psi. You'll know

In the threads I've read around here, lots of guys smell diesel and pull over. It has sprayed everywhere.

Wonder if the leak you're seeing is a coolant leak? But inspect it to be certain. If you suspect the #4 line replace it so you're not stranded. You ought to be smelling diesel too.

yes, I just replaced mine again for the second time in 6 months on my 07 dodge. Is there a fix?
