2007 Mega steering problem - help!
Hi,
I just changed out the steering assembly on my 2007 Mega to the new 2008.5 upgraded one including Pitman arm, stablizer and tie rods. Now that I have it back together, the steering is fine when going dead straight but as soon as I hit a bump or try to turn, it feels like the pump is cycling on and off. It will try to turn then stop, then try again. Could this be air in the system? I did not disconnect any hoses and it was working perfectly before this (other than the tie rod end which poped off in the driveway!).
The pump is not making any bad noises or squeels - any ideas?
Thanks,
Rob

just an idea but....if it didnt do this before and you didnt touch the power steering pump check the tie rod ends. when you put the tie rods on the knuckles did you make sure they were on square (or parallel to the ground)? Kinda hard to explain but when you turn all the way left or right the tie rod ends actually rotate up and down in the front to back direction. If they aren't both square then they can bind during steering.

If the tie rods are not set to same angle they will bind up in turn and will break off, usually the left side will break. Chrysler has recall for the problem set both to same angle to within 5 degrees.
