2000 rpm vibration - dealer says NO to TSB
2000 rpm vibration - dealer says NO to TSB
I took my 03 to the dealer for its first complimentary oil change and told him about the vibration in the steering wheel and pedal at 2000 to 2100 rpm. I informed him about TSB 19-008-03. He said they would check the vibration but did not accept TSB's downloaded from the internet. After review, he said it needed a new fan. They just installed the fan but still have vibration. They said they called Dodge and were told it has to do with the Hydro boost and is a known problem with no fix. How did some of you guys get the dealer to accept TSB 19-008-03 since it does not come directly from Dodge?
My dealer said the same thing. Then I gave him the part # of the hose and he said it was a good # and ordered it. The hose is at the dealer now, I just have to get the truck back up there. The part # is 52113926AF.
I brought my '04 in for the same thimg with the tsb# in hand. The service writer gave me a little crap about it because he said "we don't do random tsb's until we have diagnosed the truck and see if the TSB applies and furthermore your TSB is for 2003 truck's not 2004". I said "I understand that, I was just trying to give the tech someplace to start looking". Well that afternoon the service manager calls and say's that they checked the truck over and although their is a vibe in the wheel and pedal they don't know the cause. I said "did you check out the TSB I gave you" he say's "what TSB". I guess the jackass service writer must of figured I was an idiot and failed to present the TSB to the tech who worked on my truck. After I unhappily explained how their is a TSB for 2003 model year trucks that have the same condition as my 2004 he said he would call STAR and see what they say. About a half hour later the manager called back and said STAR had approved the repair for my truck and the hose was ordered.
Remember, most dealership service writers are idiot's who think YOUR an idiot. Just stick to your gun's, ask to speak with the service manager and explain how you personally know others that have had the repair done so you expect it also.

When I had my truck in for the cooling line recall, I discussed the TSBs for the high idle and the 2000 rpm vibration. They would not replace the hose to fix the vibration but they had no problem doing the high idle TSB. I bought the hose and changed it myself and the vibration went away. List price on the hose was $65, I got it for $57.
I took mine in for the trans recall c-44 and also told them of the vibration in tow/haul at 60mph was putting my foot to sleep. Tech's response was vehicle at 60mph in tow mode rpm 2700 vibration due to high rpm redline is 3000rpm. He said I shouldn't use tow/haul unless pulling grade. While driving in to work this am I put it in tow haul and at 60mph 2400rpm and the tach has red hash marks starting at 3200rpm what is redline? 305hp SO calif. model.
tell them to document a written refusal to do the tsb ... then contact the dodge regional rep (not sure if that is the correct title) ... or take it back enough times to qualify for a lemon law ...
i have taken both of my trucks in for tsb work
never had a moments hesitation from dealer to perform them ...
and the best part is i purchased both trucks used
neither came from the dealership
no offense but i can not believe you guys buy 35k$ trucks
then allow the shop to refuse to work on it... especially on a TSB which is in effect an admission from dodge that a problem exists
i must be very fortunate to have such an honest dealership nearby
post the names of these idiot dealerships so that others don't waste their hard earned money with these creeps

I don't think the moderator would allow that as point of being slanderous, maybe open for lawsuit which the stealers would probably win because of finances.
The TSB is for 2003 models they haven't included 2004 models yet but we're workin' it.

If you take the truck back 3 times and they do not fix the vibe, can't you just go the Lemon Law route?
Mine was in once for the vibe and they balanced my front wheels.
Apperantly I'm too stupid to know the difference between engine vibration and an out of balance tire.

Well mine is definately more than tires I can feel it in the steering wheel and gas pedal so strong my foot gets numb. As for lemon law they get 4 strikes at it. I have only had the truck a month. It just really iritated me for the tech to say it was do to high reving the engine. I may be not very familiar with diesels but have been a motorhead from way back. I used to do most of my own mechanical work until they computerized every thing, and keep changing and mixing nut and bolts (metric & standard on same vehicle). Nowadays it's almost cheaper to have a shop do it by the time you buy all the special tools, pay waste fees and such. I even had trash refused when I had a used oil filter in it.

I would just go to another dealer. Mine had no questions about it, ordered the part and put it on. It fixed the vibration in the steering wheel at all speeds and rpms. A pciture of the weighted hose is in my gallery. I do feel a buzz in the clutch pedel when accelerating fast, but that doesn't bother me- lets me know I still have vibratory sense in my feet -which is good! I'll start worrying, when I can't feel it.
Hello folks,
This is my first post, been reading a while and thought I'd let you know my experience.I purchased my truck at a dealer that sells maybe 3 ctds a year, I picked up a deal that fell through after a someone had ordered it. My sister had the same truck in a different color(same truck drove completely different). I experienced the 2000 rpm drone or vibration, at 2000 miles my power steering hose began to leak from a cross thread at the factory, when the hose was replaced the mechanic stated that this should help with the vibration, (replaced with a non weighted hose) and it did. When the tsb came out for the ps hose fix I called the dealer, then went by the dealer, he stated that there was no tsb and I was watching him look in the dc computer trying to find one. I had the tsb # in hand and he found nothing.
I called the dc customer service number and explained my situation, the guy pulled it up right away. I gave him the dealers name and service techs name and he faxed the tsb to him. I recieved a call 2 hours later from the dealer stating the part had been ordered.
Now at 9000 miles the drone is gone and all is well. My sister is not going to have hers replaced.
Do as I did call the rep and have him fax it or email it to the dealer, they tend to look at you in a different light when you prove to them you actuallly know what you're talking about.
