#1 injector bad what is the best way to fix
my dealer says my #1 injector is bad looking for suggestions on a fix is there only there option on replacing with a new stock injector or should i go the aftermarket route.not sure what normally fails on these injectors is it usually the tip that cracks or does the main part of the injector fail.they told me 800+can for a new one so just looking for other options.from what i have read the aftermarket injectors are just a new tip.thanks shane

I think aftermarket F1's are around 1000-1200 for all 6......if I drop one I will probably just throw some F1's in mine...especially if you are out of warranty aftermarket for sure

Just a quick question??? Whats your millage on truck and what year truck???
If truck is under 100,000 miles should be warranty. Rule is under 100K under 5 year no deductable (Dodge - Cummins engine warranty) under 100K over 5 years to 7 years $100 deductable. Now I don't know about Canadian warranty but think it should be comprable to the US warranty. If in doubt call Dodge customer care line with the last 8 digits of your VIN and they can let you know what your warranty was/is. If over the 100K or 7 years then guess I'd seriously look at some type of after market injector and just replace all 6....
Good luck.....

most of the dealers have a shortage on new injectors. when mine went bad the dealer said upto 4 weeks before I could get my truck back.ANd then same crappy injector would go back in it. Sent them to F1 had them back in a week and a half with better tips

The $1200 on the aftermarket injectors is just for the tips. Most of the time an injector goes the body cracks. Just go to Cummins and pay $400 for one and replace it yourself if you don't have a warranty. I can do one in an hour and a half.
Edit: What did Don charge for the core charge on the bad injector?

Relax, that is $800 Canadian which is about $34 US.
If you are not mechanically inclined, and they won't/can't repair under warrantee, take it to a good independent shop and have them replace all 6 with F1s. You can check them out at http://www.f1diesel.com/injectorsecho.html

according to my warranty book motor is covered for 160k km or 7yrs. 5yrs/160k km no deductable, yr 6&7/160k km $100 deductable. did the 03 have a shorter coverage term?
