1,000,000 mile problem, small one

My brother just turned a million on his 2004 but the odometer stays on 999,999. Any thoughts?

Take pictures and take it to the dealer. They should be able to reprogram the instrument cluster.

Wow, that's awesome. If he's got that many miles, it's the least of his worries abut what the other poster said. See if they can reprogram it.

They ought to give him a new truck for FREE and use that one for advertisement

Thats freakin nuts for a 2004. That is averaging 400 miles a day every single day for the last 7 years. What does he do.

Sounds like he definitely drives for a living......... or at least the truck did with or without him

dealer does not have the capabilities of programming the cluster to change mileage.

CONGRATS THOUGH! Very cool!

does it really matter after a million miles i mean if he sells it im sure your not gonna here its got low miles only 1,000,000 not like its got 2,000,000 haha this is a cool milestone tho

I bought my truck less than a month ago and they told me that Cummins was purchasing trucks with 1,000,000 miles on them. The dealer could have been FOS but I don't know. Apparently there was an individual who brought his CTD to the dealer in NC and it had 1,000,000 miles on it. I was told that Cummins bought the truck for a very high price, pulled the engine, tested it, and it was within mfr specs for a new motor. They are probably passing bogus info but I thought it was an amazing story nine the less. Tell your brother that 1,000,000 miles is unreal. Great Truck.

I know of a man who retired form an oil company and they gave him his truck. He had a bit over 500,000 miles on his Cummins. He had it torn down by a Cummins dealer to have it rebuilt......every thing was within new engine tolerances.

The odometer does not have the capability of going any higher.

I am surprised it did not reset to zero though.

Hvytrkmech Nov 11, 2010 06:41 PM

That truck ran 24/7. How many drivers were operating it?

I doubt that.

My truck has 509,000 in just 3 years and I am the only driver.

500 miles a day at 50 mph is about 10 hours a day, on drive could do, but that is alot of driving.
