06 wait to start indicator
Can some one with an 06 if when warm and you turn the key on should the wait to start indicator illuminate if only for a second or so as a lamp check? or dose it only light when needed ie. cold weather? I just bought an 06 with 19,000 miles and it hasn't been cold enough yet, but I thought it should come on for a second, like my old 95 did. Please enlighten my and thanks.

I have an '06 . . . . the light doesn't come on unless it is cold enough. No light check on mine. I've had it for 2.5 months now, and it has only come on once . . . .after it sat in the airport parking garage for a week and I started it at night. Came on for about 5 sec. They say these motors can start down to -20 F. My old 6.0L glowplugs would come on if it was 80F outside.
I think yours is fine. |
Yep, I live in Texas and my light finally came on when the temps where below 55 overnight. It only came on for about 3-5 seconds

Thanks, the crappy owners manual leads me to think it should come on every time you turn the key as a lamp check, but I am glad to heare you all have the same thing. My 95 did as I said a lamp check

you can hold the odometer button, turn key on, and see where it is.
around ~35 degrees, mine comes on |
Cool Thanks a lot, I knew should be a way to do a manual lamp check, just didnt know it. That was going to be my next question. Thanks

That's weird, my little red light comes on every time I start. It could be 90 outside and it comes on. Figured it was supposed to? What's the deal with holding the odometer button when you start? What exactly does that do?

Don't know about a little red light unless it's the security key light, the wait to start is an orange squiglely line that goes out after a few seconds or in bitter cold a minute or so.

its gotta be pretty cold for mine to come on

Wait to Start light- I too must admit, for the first week, I thought the red security light was the wait to start light. I came from a Furd PSD and that dang wait to start lit up and sat for 5-10 seconds every time no matter what the temps. So I get the new Dodge 06 and stare at the little red light each time until I read my manual and found out its the squiggly line light which I almost never even see. I figured my squiggly light was not working too, after expecting to see it as much as I saw the stupid Ford light.....I love my Dodge[coffee]

Holy Cow... Man do I feel stupid.. I had seen the squiggly light come on once for a split second but all of my lights were on and I didn't think about it. I thought the red light was the start light????? My 05 I always had to wait... Heck it's been below zero here and the light hasn't came on yet!! Man am I impressed....

| | Wait to start lamp. A tech told me that the ECM has a sensor to tell if the lamp is bad and therefore doesn't turn on the lamp unless it's needed (cold). Tony |
umm the little red light is the low oil pressure warning aint it?
|
no it is the security light...............
