06 skipping 3rd gear when temp gets to 220
I just had my transmission rebuilt, high pressure pump, HD TC and shift kit. Its been about 1000 since the rebuild and have been monitoring the temps on my drive to and from work 20 miles round trip. It is always 190-200 when I reach my destination, and it isnt even hot outside yet, hottest day so far has been 85. I just towed my toy hauler to the RV dump site to flush the tanks and then back home(40 miles Round trip). There are no hills and not much stop and go, and the trans temp got up to 227 and from a dead stop it would shift from 1 to 2 fine but skip 3rd and go right to 4th. I went to the shop that rebuilt it and told them about it and they said "Its designed to do that because 4th gear cools the fluid faster". I also told him that if I hit the Tow/haul button it wouldnt lock into 3rd and that the stock trans never ever acted like this, even before it broke. He put heat strips on the trans to determine where the most heat is coming from. The stock trans only got to 180 unless pulling hills. What do you all think, Im calling BS on what the tranny shop guy says.
