06 Drive Shaft Lube?

There is a sticker on the rad support that says caution lubricate the front drive shaft at every oil change with a pic of the rear end of the front shaft where it connects to the transfer case. My owners manual states the same thing you should do at every oil change.
Question is where are the fittings, I looked and there are not any, how am I to lube it?

I only have 6100 miles on mine, so I haven't looked yet, but that is a good question. I have the shop manuals, and it says the following:

Lubrication: Vehicles with double cardan universal joint front propeller shaft (1) are equipped with a grease fitting (2). Grease the double cardan universal joint at each oil change.

It shows a picture that indicates there is a fitting at the universal joint where it connects to the transfer case. I might take a look under mine tomorrow. I'll keep reading . . . if I see anything else, I will post.

Someone must have lubricated theirs already that could tell us for sure.

Heres a couple pics.one of the grease fitting which looks like a fisheye. The other is the needle for the grease gun. there are other types of needles that just have what looks like a grease zerk on the end. They work just as well and can be found at auto zone, advance, pep boys etc.....

Thanks Rooster. So, the AutoZone needle has a zerk on it that connects to the gun, and the needle goes into the shaft fitting? Sorry to be slow just want to make sure I understand. I thought it would be a standard zerk.

Yes, zerk goes to gun, needle goes in eye on shaft. The napa one in the picture is just a little nicer,it screws on the end.Just push the needle in the hole and squeeze the grease in.

Does the 07 have a grease fitting on the CV?

I rolled my truck forward and backward for 20 mins looking for that fitting and could not find it.... but I have the sticker on my radiator support and the note in the manual.

I have owned a lot of CV driveshafts in my day... I usually know where to find those grease fittings, but i would bet $$ there is no fitting on mine.

Thansk,

I don't have an 07 but I would bet you do have one. It was a hard thing to find the first time, due to dirt and just being hidden.

Mine was nearly invisible. It is nothing more then a rubber plug and I use a syringe type injection needle to push through the plug into the cavity and inject the grease.

Yah right, if you're lucky maybe, mine seems to go everywhere EXCEPT into the little hole. It's hard to get a good angle at it with the cross member there.

I have one of the grease fittings like in the picture and had the same problem with grease going everywhere except in the hole. I found a syringe type needle that fits on my grease gun and inserts completely into the hole. That solved the problem. For those of you having trouble finding the hole, don't give up. It really is there. Carefully study the picture to orient yourself and clean off the dirt. It is much easier to find the second time.

I have an 07 and it was very hard to find the fitting. It's very small and is located in the area between the two "u" joints in the cardan joint assembly. When you find it you will see a very small hole with a ball in the center. The only thing I could get to work was the needle type tool. You you just push it in the hole, the ball moves off to the side and lets the needle enter. Keep looking it's there.
