04 dodge backfires
hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on with my truck it doesn’t do it when it’s cold but when it warms up and I put it to the floor it’ll hit about 15-1700 rpms and then lag and attempt to back fire I was thinking it could be my injector pump not supplying enough fuel but I wanted to know what you guys think? And once again it only does it when it’s warm about 170-200... |
diesels don't backfire

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? Start fast or require extra cranking? Any smoke when coughing? |
There are numerous reasons a diesel can backfire. Out the exhaust or in the intake.
The original poster hasn't provided enough information on his issue for anyone to provide recommendations. |
On my 01 I know different year and different pump etc but when my vp44 went out one time i was driving through the Eisenhower tunnel, kids were following us in another vehicle. All of a sudden sounded like a cannon went off in the tunnel. Kids told me about 3 or 4 feet of flame came out the exhaust. I had already had the pump diagnosed a few days earlier and was just waiting for my appointment a couple days in the future to get the vp replaced under warranty at the time |
