'04 48re to nv4500

My 48re is on its way out. Not toast yet, but its getting there. Id rather be prepared to do my swap than "need" to do my swap. I just came across a complete setup for a nv4500, but I always had my heart set on an nv5600. Any pros/cons on the nv4500? I only wanna do this once.

NV4500 only 5 speed, weak 5th gear if doing heavy towing. Has problems with 5th gear failing, ask me how I know. NV5600 much better choice.

I hear the extra gear makes a hell of a difference when towing. Now the hard part. To find a nv5600 and all the stuff to go with it.

By the way. How do you know fifth gear can fail so well.

NV4500 do have a week 5th gear, look for a NV5600 or a G56.

The common problem with the mv4500 is the 5th gear nut coming loose. There is a good fix for that you could do before you install. The 4500 is going to be a heck of a lot cheaper. You might want to ask this question in the 12v section.

Talking to a local transmission/rear guy he completely is trying to pull me away from the nv5600 because he says he never can seem to find parts for them. He seems to think doing the nv4500 is the way to go. I still like the idea of a 6 speed and now wonder if a g56 is the way to go. Whose got horror stories on them? I'm gonna start nosing around in the 12v section and see what I can drum up too.
