03 auto, what kind of transmission do I have?
As said, I have a 03 with an automatic. Do all of them have the same auto or are some different? Just wondering, mine seems to be slipping some, mainly when I round curves, but sometimes on a straight run.
Thanks,
Chris

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the 600 series motors have 48re while the 24valves (ie. 2nd gen like me) have 47re...
Good luck. Either way Transmissions =$$$$

You could have the 47re or the 48re. The Standard Output 03' models have the 47re, and the High Output models have the 48re. Look at the tag on the side of the engine to see which output you have and that'll imply as to which transmission you have.

I have a 235hp SO California Emmisions engine. I have the 48re behind my motor. Build date on my truck is 03/03. My truck must of just rolled down the assembly line as they were switching from the 47 to the 48re's.
I never understood why Cummins left out piston cooler nozzles on the 235hp engines? Did they think no one would mod them?

i would think that the 48re is better, due to newer design and technology, although im not exactly sure what all they changed. ive heard they tend to hold a little more power than the 47re but again idk. all my trucks have been manual so im not much of an auto guy
