My rpm's stay up between shifts, my fp doesn't change, but the rp drops instantly when I back off the throttle. Seems normal to me, been like that since the truck was new.

Yeah, depending on how hard your accelerating or towing depends on how the rpms drop. Its all part of the programing.

Well I bought the pickup and it does seem to keep RPM's up for a second or so between gears. But from what everyone has said it seems normal. I have been letting off the pedal a split second before the shift and that seems to help. Had lots of practice in the 2400 miles to get it home. Thanks again everyone I am sure I will have more questions about the 3rd gen as soon as I recover from the trip. The AL-CAN in an empty 3500 is a long rough ride, but so far the truck seems to be worth it.

Wow, up the al-can for a pickup...

I'm planning on doing a motorcycle run up from Oregon, hopefully up the Dalton, bum around Fairbanks and Ancorage, and maybe a side trip to Valdez or somewhere down in there.

Anyhow, enjoy the truck.

Thanks, airline miles helped a lot. It is an 03 3500, SRW, Quadcab, LB, 4X4, 6 speed, HO, SLT with 130K. Hard to find up here, or anywhere for that matter. The AL-CAN was great until Whitehorse then it was brutal from there to the U.S. border. A bike would be much better than a 1 ton, enjoy your trip.

That should be a nice truck. I bought an 03 SRW LB 4x4 HO stick laramie new.

I really liked that truck, and would still be driving it except I got the itch for a toyhauler that would have overloaded the rear axle and tires. A very good friend of mine bought it with like 39k on it.

The only problem it has ever had is he lost 1 injector.

Adding a 2 micron filter might be a good investment.

03 Cummins 6spd I just got had the same issue. I pulled the MAF sensor and sprayed it out with some carb clean. Dirty MAF sensor it seemed. Seemed to do the trick.

03’s don’t have MAF sensors. Do you mean MAP sensor in the intake manifold?

Yes the MAP, my bad. Thank you for that. You’re technically correct, and that’s the best kind of correct!

It seemed to really make a difference with the floating or spiking rpm on shifts, the tach drops more like it should clutching in. Also the rpm doesn’t randomly high idle anymore.
worth a shot.

Just being a MAP it’s just a solid piezo, does it have a little orifice that got gummed up maybe? Didn’t look that closely lol, it was in a park and dark.
