Can anyone tell me if there is a flash for an 05/2003 ?
I went from 20 to 17 MPG as I got closer to 15K and if I let the truck idle for 2 minutes in the driveway, birds start to fall out of the tree from the fumes. No smoke, just really strong fumes that are as bad as my old Iveco with 270K miles on it, but it got better mileage.
80% of my driving is sans the trailer with 60% on the hwy. With that being said, I liked (believe it or not) my Chevy 6.5 better for most of my driving and only truly smile with the Dodge when the 5ver is behind me.
fuel filter was just changed at 10K
Runs smooth all the way through

Look here to see if there's an Easter Egg with your name on it:
http://dodgeram.info/tsb/
Truck was built in May 2003. Which I believe was the last run of 03's prior to the seat and steering wheel change to call it an 04.
The question is above and beyond what is found on the site. My experience over the years has been normally as soon as the dealer wrenches on my cars for any reason, they are never the same again.
So, I should rephrase the question. Has anyone had their 03 reflashed and what was the outcome? Good or bad?

really bad smelly diesel
I've had mine flashed and have had no problems afterwards. Mine was flashed because of the intermittant check engine light. The problem fixed that. They also did a tranny flash to address the shifting problem & have seen no ill effects of that either. My mileage has not gotten any worse or better
Good luck
Oh, ok - May 03. Good possibility that its the fuel. I wouldn't go on thinking that a "reflash" is a miracle cure-all - like you said, the less they mess with it the better I sleep.
I did have the CO2 recall reflash done on my truck and can't really say that I've ever noticed a difference. The first couple of tanks afterward had a little better mileage but I won't go on a limb to say that it was due to the reflash. Not sure what tranny you have, but the CO2 only applied to handshakers.
My mileage can vary merely based on how aggressive I drive. Just mosey'ing around (unloaded - but weighing in around 7700 lbs; includes my body by DQ), and not setting any speed records, I'll see 18+ just puttin' around, and the real high 19's pushing 20 when on the highway for any length of time.
If I'm horsing around just to hear the exhaust note and turbo sing, it'll be in the 16's quick.
Watch your driving habits and see if they've changed a little. Make sure you're not idling more than you think - any time an engine is running with out providing any forward motion will hurt mileage.
