'03-'04.5 valve seats

Hi, I am looking into a early 3rd generation cummins. Are the valve seats weaker or a problem on the '03-'04.5 Cummins ?

Probably not. It happens with sustained high egts. On the 03-04, above 1450 for any length time. 04.5 and up used a different design and is less affected and therefore that line is much higher.

Every truck will be different so that egt umber is not written is stone. If you remain stock on an 03-04 you will be fine. 04.5 and up can see higher temps even stock, but should not be a problem either.
