*********** Question - Injector flush

Do we need to "flush the injectors" every time we change the fuel filter? This is the first I'd heard of it.

Thanks!

The dealer said something to that effect the last time I had the oil changed. When I declined on having them do the fuel filter ($100) because it was so expensive, he said that price also included flushing the injectors. What, exactly, do they do?

That's the same story they gave me. I was in for a safety recall and they said I needed a fuel filter and injector flush. I change the filter every 7500, but have never "flushed the injectors????"

I've heard of some filling up the fuel bowl with Power Kleen (PS silver bottle). I've never done it... I just add it to the tank. As I understand it, it will end up in the tank anyway due to the return flow fuel line.

They will "flush" your wallet for you. !00$ for fuel filter change? I bought 2 Baldwin drop in 5 micron filters today for 18bucks and some change.

Yeah, they sold you a crock of crap! My dealer charged me $90 for a fuel filter change, ONCE! Then I told them I'll go get my own from now on and do it myself.

I didn't buy it. Just wanted to check with you guys and see if I was missing something.

Thanks!!!!

nevr heard of it but i believe someone on here had a post where some othe place flushed his fuel system and destroyed his injectors

I have my injectors flushed once a year. It makes a real difference. You get power back and it idles way smoother.

last time I took mine to dealer they recommended I "De-carbon" the engine... I didn't get a price quote on that, but I ran away as fast as I could..

It absolutely amazes me at what the dealers try to upsell to people. If you run a good quality diesel fuel additive once a month you will never need to have your engine "decarboned", or your injectors "flushed".

I run a fuel additive in every tank, all 3 fuel filters I have on my truck get changed out every other oil change, or 10k miles. (I am extending my drain intervals now.) The stock filter has only a hint of black on it and is still serviceable when I change it.

I run hows fuel conditioner all the time. The flushing get the rest of the crud out. 202,000 kms and no injector troubles at all.

Some dealerships claim to flush with BG 44 but don't recall how often they say to have it done.
