Protecting a Jasper reman 48re?
Well picked up our 07 yesterday, beautiful truck. Handles like a new truck. Trying to go through it a bit, and transmission is next.
Currently looks like a Jasper reman per the warranty sticker on the pan. My guess is it was done within the last 2 years but no paperwork so who knows. Truck seems stock, 167xxx miles right now, but the trans seems very strong. My only comparison is my old 47re from my 98, which I never cared for. Lockup is very firm in 3rd and o/d and no slipping or shudder under full throttle.
Only thing I have noticed, is it bounces back and forth from 3rd to 2nd sometimes before tc locks around 30 mph, only under light acceleration.
So I'm getting together a transgo kit, and I'm looking for the best replacement solenoids while I'm in there, along with a billet strut lever, band adjustment and whatever else you guys can sell me. What is a good replacement set of solenoids? I've heard about a GM upgrade, Borg Warner upgrade, dodge upgrade....what's working good these days? Power will stay stock for a year or two, towing a ~8k lb camper few times a year into the mountains but otherwise will be on fairly light duty.
Thanks for any help, cheers.
