Question 2005 Permanent Tow/Haul Mode?

OK, like everyone else, the 48RE is the bane of my truck...

It drives much better in Tow/Haul mode (on '05s it changes shift points, not lock out OD). BUT, I'm old and lazy.

Anyone know of any way to permanently engage the tow/haul mode? It "resets" every time you turn the truck off!

Seriously, though I would like to do this, becuase the truck drives better in this mode, and MPG is better. When my wife drives it, she never remembers to engage (and I forget occasionally -- usually until I get the 1-2-1 hunt, and then I remember).

TIA.

A BD towloc box will let you program tow haul on 100%,and 2 program modes ,the 48re is limited on choices as it isn't 100% electronic controlled ,a shift kit as mentioned will change things. JMHO

I wonder if you could use the wiring strategy used for Jake (and other) exhaust brakes. On my 2006, when I engage the exhaust brake, it appears as the truck is in tow/haul mode. Perhaps you could download the installation instructions. When I did mine, there was one or two new wires to the ECM.

forgive me for asking a dumb question.... but you get better mileage in tow/haul mode?? i thought you got worse mileage?

keep it engaged even at highway speeds? or take it off once you hit 50-60mph??

im looking for as many mpg's i can get with 4.00 diesel...
