Wiper problems
Wiper problems
I had to replace my 01 wiper motor a year ago due to rust etc.
Last week my wipers would not work, I feared the motor had failed again. I removed the motor and bench tested to find it was ok. I assumed it was a bad or dirty connector. I cleaned the connector and put proper connector grease on it, but it is still intermittent.
When it fails, it will not work in slow/fast/intermittent or washer mode.
Bad ground/negative?

Both are very good possibilities...........
do you happen to remember where this ground lug was attached to the body? That would be a good place to start.
I have also thought of taking apart the connector on the wiper motor and connecting each wire individually to the motor and make sure I have a good solid connection.

If I recall it was just above/behind and to the pass side a few inches of the brake booster. Single black wire 16g with ring termination held to firewall with a small bolt 10mm head with a locking washer (the serrated type). I thought I would use that ground to ground an accessory. Shortly thereafter on a road trip tot eh Grand Canyon it started raining and my wipers started weirding out. As I was fumbling around trying to figure out what was going on I hit that bolt and the wipers turned on. So I tightened it up and been good ever since. If you cant find it let me know and I will go out and look at it. I dont have it with me at the moment as it is no longer my daily driver but could look at it at home.

Bad ground, corrosion on/in the terminals, or the multifunction switch.
The easy stuff is the look at the grounds as mentioned before, and the wiring terminals.

The biggest problem with mine is......
It works when the sun is out, and quits just after the first few rain drops.
That's making it real hard to trouble shoot.
This weekend, I am going to do as suggested and clean the ground connection and while the sun is out, take apart the connector on the wiper motor and connect each wire individually making sure each has a good connection.
