Wiper motor gone bad?
My wipers quit working yesterday. Of course, it was raining.
I first turned them on the intermittent setting they seemed to drag, as if there wasn't enough power getting to them. I turned them on low and then high and they seemed to work fine. Turned them off then on again and they quit working. I checked the fuse and relay, they seemed fine.
I started my truck this morning and they worked but with the same problem. Then they quit again.
I'm figuring it is the motor. Have any of you replaced a wiper motor. Where is it located? Is it easy to get to? Easy to exchange?
Only the local dealer carries this part and they want $105 for the motor...at least $70 for labor. I hate giving away hard earned money, so i'd like to do this myself if possible.
I just replaced the vacuum pump which cost $200 parts/labor. now this...DANG! I only have 54K miles on the truck and none of this is under warranty. I hope it is not the start of things to come.
HELP!

Dont have many details, but ive seen it done a while ago and it wasnt hard looking at all. Just pull the black vent piece off below the wipers and windshield. I think you have to remove the wipers too. From there you should have access to the motor i think.

Yep replacing the motor is easy. Just pull off the wiper arms then the cowl cover and its right there. Get the motor at autozone. I paid like 50 bucks with a lifetime warrenty.

Thanks guys
Thanks guys, gonna give this a try.
Let me ask ya, I just had the windshield replaced due to a 12 inch crack. In the installation, the service had the cowl off...you think this might be my problem?
Maybe he knocked a wire loose or something?
