white smoke & no power, please help...
I have a 2002 CTD 6 speed, several months ago I tried running some WMO through it, and was smoking a lot so I started running straight D2. Since then my truck is still smoking a lot of white smoke at idle and driving, has less power and vibrates during acceleration. I have changed the fuel filter twice, I have ran plenty of PS through the tank and still no help. I don't think it's the lift pump or the IP because all the WMO was filtered down to 2 microns, and mixed at 60% WMO/40% D2.....anyone know what this could be and the best approach to fixin it? At this point the truck is not showing any trouble codes. Thanks in advance to whoever replies, I truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge available on this forum and someday hope to be able to give out as much advice as I am asking questions these days!

Check your turbo boots for splits/holes or separation from the tubing.
Check your antifreeze level. If its low you are burning antifreeze from a blown head gasket or worse.
Hope for split turbo boot, lower drivers side can rub on body and wear thru after time.

Alright, I checked all rubber boots and there is no turbo leak I can see, and if there was I was thinking it would be black smoke because that is a sign of over fueling.....I also checked coolant level, that is still topped off, not burning coolant. Any other sugestions? thanks for the input!

For some reason you get white smoke normally when the boost is down.
That's a plus on the coolant cause that's a big problem.
If you can have someone rev it up while you watch the boots, you may find something you missed.

I also think that white smoke can be a sign of injection pump failure. or lift pump failure. I would definetly check pressure going to your VP44 from the lift pump and also pressure from the VP44 to the injectors.

ok, Will definately check boost. What is the best way? My truck doesn't have a boost gauge, is there a place to screw a gauge into on the intake elbow and check? As far as the LP and IP, is this something it would have to be taken to a shop to be checked? If it is either of these 2 I'm very suprised no trouble codes are coming up when I check. I called "Diesel Power" shop today in Nashville and they want 550 bucks just to pull and pop test the injectors, not to mention how much if they need to repair or replace one, to me that seems high and david the one I spoke with didn't seem to eager to diagnose, he said he would be using the computer diagnostics just like I used......seems expensive to fix a problem that may not even be a true problem.

Unfortunately, some repairs are hard to do/diagnose without the proper tools. Call around for a better price, some shops don't make money on the phone so may seem disinterested in helping you out when they have paying rigs on the racks.
The vp44 failure code will show up most of the time, but not always. There isn't a code for injector failure though.
I understand your feeling about getting the injectors tested, you can get a brand new set of 275's for around $700 so why not just replace them? Although, that may not be your problem.
