Where did my grease zerks go?

This weekend I crawled under my still new 2002 Ram 2500 for the first time to change the oil. I have a habit of making sure I grease everything when I chage the oil. I put 10 years and 165,000 miles on a 1/2 ton Ford that way and the steering was as tight as a new truck (always got comments on it). My previous truck was a '99 Ram 1500 and I was expecting something similar to that one when I crawled under my 2500. What I found instead is there are only two grease zerks instead of one at every joint as was on my '99.

Where are my zerks?! Are there any 2500s out there with the proper contingent of zerks?

Tad

They're all like that. Best bet is to drill a hole where you need them and install your own zerks.

Re:Where did my grease zerks go?

I have an attachment for my grease gun that essentially is a large needle with a zerk fitting to attached it to the grease gun. Every 6 months or so I slip the needle through the rubber boot at the boot bottom (where the boot slides over the metal joint) and pump in grease until the boot expands slightly. I remove the needle and put a dab of silicon sealant over the hole made by the needle. I have not had to replace a joint in my last 3 trucks. '87 Dakota-115K miles, '96 Ram 1500-110K miles, and my current 2001 HO Cummins-48K miles. I use the Amsoil synthetic Multi-Purpose grease. Works for me...
